A composition is the blueprint of a musical piece in notation for eventual performance. It is a fully developed conception of a musical form (say, a song, a prelude, or a cinematic cue) in its core aspects: melody, harmony, tempo, rhythm, expression, and structure.
At Garsų menė, we compose in a variety of genres, writing scores in MIDI notation for the ensuing stage of instrumentation.
We approach every composition as the foundation of the production process that will culminate in a music record. It is, therefore, very important to spend time imagining and planning it: what is the mood, the occasion, and the audience for it; what is the application or use case for it; are there examples of compositions that inspire you and may give us an idea of the stylistic direction to follow?
